I woke up early from my sleep today- so I thought "What the heck- I'll make a post". So what if i'm a little blog obsessed?? Since spring has set in, I have been feeling a little nostalgic about Utah. These are some cool pictures in Provo Canyon from August of last year. We drove to Park City a few weeks after Dave was born just to get some fresh air. I always thought the area around Bridal Veil and Deer Creek looked prettiest when it rained. The grass always looks so green. We went camping up there in the rain a few times! I miss camping. I wonder if Dave is old enough to take camping yet? I'm scared that he will inhale some smoke and scar his lungs, but I think he would like it (not the scarred lungs part- but you know). Maybe we'll go before it gets too hot!

Oh yeah- speaking of awesome and beautiful places. I just found out my friend Gloriana got accepted to grad school in Sacramento- and she has a new blog to celebrate the occasion:) Check her hot self out at:

Congrats G!
A New Template!!!

What an exciting day in the world of Barbie blogs! It is revolutionary I tell you! OK- I'm going slightly overboard, but I get a little silly at 5am. I have been sitting here trying to re-do my template for about 2 hours amidst giving shots of Morphine and making splints... not exactly the kind of thing I should be doing at work, I know (at least not the re-doing template part). Just don't tell on me- ok?

So apparently we now live in Hawaii (Maybe Stacy and Scott can relate), because I went outside to take out the garbage last night and there were like, five geckos clinging to the house surrounding some rather large bugs on the porch. I have been told that the geckos arrived a few years ago and that they do eat the bugs which are about the same size as them. It kinda freaked me out, and was cool at the same time. So I took some pictures. (shiver)

The picture of me with the burning torch in my ear... is me with a burning torch in my ear. We were trying out some ear candles. Supposedly they suck all the ear wax and debris out of your ear and make it so you can hear better. I only did one ear because the whole time I was afraid my hair was going to catch on fire! Personally i think the wax just drips down the inside of the candle and looks like ear wax because it gets all smoke-e-fied. Andi- I need expert opinion on this one!! Because my ear doesn't feel any cleaner or debris free! Either that or they were already clean as a whistle to begin with. As a matter of fact, that's probably it:)

It's to work I go now! See ya in 3 days!!

Although Mike could not condone the wearing of the Ranger's outfit- he couldn't deny that Dave looked dang cute in it:)

It's summer and I wish we were going to the Ranger's game tonight! That's a real summery thing to do. At least it feels like summer here. It got up in the high 90s today. Aye aye aye! Talk about needing a sweatband! I forgot how much I missed the balmy Texas weather, though- it feels like home. I have to go back to work tomorrow:( for three days. We are hoping to save enough money through this year to be able to put most of the money down on building a house. So every week reminds me of that Pat Green song Three Days. I like my job, but I love my little boy and husband. I think I've come to the conclusion that I just want to be a mama (and wife). Anyway- no sense in getting all sappy sentimental. We're sucking it up for the year and making the most of it- that's all there is to it:) The rest we'll decide as it comes.
a plate reminiscent of Napoleon- created by one of the guys in our ward at a combined YM, YW dinner.

Dave- playin' the tough guy. We all know you're just mush inside, lil' buddy.

aww, cuddles!
The other day Morgan and Dave were playing together. Morgan has a dog named Layla, who recently had some training lessons. While the kids were playing and the grown-ups were talking, we looked over and realized that Morgan had her closed fist held out over Dave's head, and she was saying "Sit. Sit. Good girl." Over and over. I think I peed myself a little laughing at that:)

Well, Easter Sunday went off without a hitch (I don't really know what that means- I just wanted to say "without a hitch"). We had a pretty fun (and busy!) day. Dave is pictured here with some of his Easter basket loot. He got a little dinosaur that blows bubbles- which is good because sometimes when I am blowing the bubbles with him, I get so dizzy that I'm afraid I might pass out and drop him. This was an inspired gift!
Dave also got a new outfit to wear to church. His first shirt and tie! He is starting to look like a little person instead of a chubby little cherub. Mah baaaby- growin' up! We had a good day at church. Dave sat still enough that I was able to catch most of the Easter program, and I didn't even have to hear it from the hall with all of the other nomadic-parents-of- babies.
We ended the day with the Easter feast- complete with turkey, stuffing and coconut pie. Our guts and hearts were full and happy.

Happy Day-After-Tax-Day everyone!
(ie: Happy Easter!) Yesterday we enjoyed some springtime festivities with Michael, Jen, Morgan, G-ma and Pompa Meyers, Jacob, Alleni, and Marcus, Audrey and Adeline Tolman (who is an absolute doll- as you can see). We dyed some eggs, ate some food and then had the Egg Hunt to end all egg hunts! It was fun.
I've come to the conclusion that holidays (and days in general) are more fun with kids around. The wonder and amazement they have at everything is so cool. I think Easter is my favorite holiday- not just because of the significance of the day (which is really important and cool in itself), but also the weather is better than any other time of year- even in Texas!

Yeah. So in the last post I mentioned that I wasn't "wearing any pants" when I got that injury. Have no fear people. I was wearing shorts, just no long pants to protect my knees. I haven't become a shameless exhibitionist...yet.

In other news- Dave's nose is sick. I don't know if it's this crazy Texas pollen, or if he picked something up from another kid somewhere. Needless to say, with the newfound "pulling himself up in his bed skills" and the not being able to breathe through his nose- he is almost always a cranky little midget by bedtime. So lately I've been bringing him in bed with me for his second nap. I think he is getting used to it though, because if it's a day I don't work (and consequently don't nap) he just won't take a second nap. I think I am creating a monster here. But it's so cuuuute though (in that nasaly, high, talking to a baby voice)!!

So you had a bad day...

The first of the summer injuries are protrayed in living color here. Dave got his first head injury (ok- really just a shiner) while playing with my cousin's daughter Emily. I'm not sure if she's Dave's cousin or third cousin... second cousin once removed... so I'll say my cousin's daughter. He fell while trying to pull up and grab onto Emily who is three. I think she is still too young to realize he is harmless.
The pictures of the big leg here are from when Mike and I went roller blading the other night. I was trying to do some "tricks" (by that I mean- turn in a wide circle in a flat parking lot) and I went down. Luckily I wasn't wearing any pants or knee pads, so now i have scabby knees like a ten year old! Awesome.

This is kind of a funny story. In March we went with Michael and Jen to Tyler to stay in some cabins for the weekend there. It was chilly outside, but Morgan wanted to swim really badly, and I thought it would be fun to take Dave. So we bought the little swimmy underpants and everything. The pool was open (it was too cold for the kids) and there was a hot tub in it. We got to the hot tub and it was kind of "sketchy" looking. The concrete steps that you sit on were kind of sludgy looking and the water was a little turbid. I thought "Well, maybe it just got junk from the trees in it." So we carefully got our legs in. I was up to about my waist and Dave had his legs in the water, when this lady calls down from one of the balconys overlooking the pool. She goes, "I woudn't get in there you guys. My kids were in there earlier today and now they're breaking out in this red rash all over their bodies." Immediately we thought "Crap! This is the pseudamonas tub!" By this point Morgan was just barely waist deep in the toxy-tub. So we pulled both kids out and ran back to the room to scrub them down in the big bathtub there. Luckily they didn't break out, but dang! It was a close call.

These pictures are also from January during the Gilchrist Extravaganza!
I know this is a little disorganized, but I thought I would post some pictures, just for picture posting sake.
This is at the Kennedy Assasination site in Dallas. Even though I've been there before there were some kind of cool things there that I didn't remember. There was a museum in the building where Oswald supposedly stood to shoot at the president. In the lobby they had reactions from lots of the ER staff at Parkland Hospital, where they brought him after the assasination. It was a little surreal to think about that happening- and what I would do if something like that ever happened to me (heaven forbid!). Leave it to Texans to assasinate a president, then make a tourist attraction out of the place where it happened! The picture up top is just Dave in his Christmas cap with his Grampie Gilchrist ... (I told you it was disorganized!)

Just thought this pic was cool. We went cosmic bowling a few weeks ago. The balls look like glowing orbs of fiiiire!

The intellectuals of the family... reading Nat Gabriel's magnum opus "My Busy Day".

This week dave learned to pull himself up in his crib. It was rather frightening, actually. I had just laid him down and the room got very quiet. When I looked up at the crib, there Dave was just smiling like a little cherub- thinking "Look Mom- here I am standing in my crib. Next thing you know I'm gonna be going to the prom- asking if I can borrow your car and twenty bucks." Or maybe he was really just thinking "Bwaawababa, dadadada, nunu, fllllbbbtttttttt!" Do babies think in mouth farts?

Oh yeah. Yesterday was also my birthday. As you can see I got some pretty wicked-sweet-awesome gifts that I am soooo excited about. Take for instance the mumu I am modeling in the second picture from the top . Seeing how I am now a quarter of a century old, I need to start dressing in more age appropriate attire. There is a store here called Central Market and on weekends they have "Burgers and Bock" night out on the front porch of the store, with live music to boot! There was a country band- singing George Strait songs (maaah faavrit). Dave ate his first french fry and even got a little swig of Stewie's Key Lime- in honor of the celebration. (I didn't take any pictures there, which makes me sad!) Morgan wore her princess outfit and Dave borrowed the crown for a sec- just to see what it feels like to be royal. Then I huffed, and I puffed and I got my germs alllll over that cake! Enjoy everyone! Blowing out candles on cake is kind of gross, come to think of it...

Mike and I took Dave to the pediatrician for his 6/ 9 month check up and immunizations. They weighed and measured him and said he is above the 100th percentile for height. Our son is a statistical outlier! He is 31 inches tall. I thought he was getting tall! Everyone in stores and people at church always seem suprised that he's not walking yet- or that he's not even 9 months old yet. I guess it's just cause he is (as Mike calls him) the tiny giant. He weighs over 21 pounds which is just above average for a kid his age. I guess he'll fit in with the rest of the "tall and lankys" runnin' around here.

We had just taken the kids for a walk one chilly March day, and I snuck me some precious pictures of "The Queen" basking in all her grandmotherly glory...

Dave gettin' an unexpected rib chompin' from Pompa Meyers.

So happy together!

Daze-A-Daze + Grammie Gilchrist = luuuuuuv 4-ever!!

Thought this was a cool picnee.

Does Fort Worth ever cross your mind??

Grammie and Grampie Gilchrist visited in late January and we took them to the Ft. Worth Stockyards. This is G-pa Gilchrist, Mike and David having more fun with hats!!
