Some of you may remember Adam and Jen Taylor of The Colony fame from the good 'ol days at The Brigham. Well, now they are Adam and Jen +3, and they were kind enough to let us crash at their sweet little house in Tennessee and see the sights when we got the road trip itch after Christmas.
We had a nice little nature hike in the forest. There just aren't as many hills and trees in Texas.
We visited the church with the huge wood carving of the Last Supper, heard the presentation and took a sneaky picture- then made a donation (because I felt a little guilty for the picture).
Then we saw the Parthenon.... in Nashville.... sort of like seeing the Mona Lisa in Kentucky or something...
It was actually a pretty cool thing. I wish they had a life sized cement replica of an ancient building in my hometown.
Before heading to Memphis we had to check out the Grand Ole Opry and the amazing Gaylord Opryland hotel (we didn't stay there, but the hotel was so cool inside- like it's own little town).
Then we checked out the real deal- the Ryman Auditorium in downtown Nashville (home of the original Grand Ole Opry). Even Mike got a little starstruck at standing on the stage where so many country stars became famous. It was a really cool place! (I must admit- I got a little teary eyed sitting in those old wooden pews when they show the little introduction video... and checking out the dressing rooms... and....)
We headed home, feeling satisfied with our excursion to the southland, making a pact to try and visit every state in the continental US in the next year. Dave was a trooper as we also visited every Piggly Wiggly in the states of Tennessee and Arkansas looking for a "See you at the Pig" t-shirt. We remained unsuccessful, but hope that future road trips will lead us to our ultimate happiness. The Piggly Shirt.

4 people are wicked awesome. to Down South Road Trip DuJour!:
Elvis looks good on you! Fun trip! And I think your goal of visiting every state should include a springtime trip back East. You know, you can bang out like 7 states in 5 days out here...
Hi Barb! That looks like a really fun trip. Next time your are in Arkansas you will have to give us a call.
DeAnn
So, I obviously don't talk to you enough. When the heck did you get time to go to Tennessee?? Hope Adam and Jen are doing well :)
That pic of David playing guitar is so cute!
