A Burning Question

Get your mind out of the (proverbial) gutter.

The master bathroom floor. Don't you just love the decor? This red stuff is the "barrier" that protects the tile from cracking. Hopefully it works. The house is coming along. We are giving it the ol' college try between working and getting enough Daze-A-Daze time. Maybe we'll move in someday...
A few of my favorite things

In lieu of video to warm the cockles of your heart, I have compiled a top 10 list of my favorite Dave-is-almost-two-isms (and maybe someday Google videos will work).
10. When he randomly starts wishing "Hatty Burtday to you, Mama", and then to the chair, and his bear and the water tower... and his dump truck.
9. When he bends his knees, gets a very serious look on his face, pauses- then states (matter of factly) "I pooped".
8. Sometimes I find him kneeling in the bath water, peeing in the water. He will look up at me and smile with satisfaction, stating "I pooped".
7. He can get his shirt and pants off to tell me it's time for baths, but (in typical boy fashion) if I need or want him to get something, like say, his shoes- he stares at me blankly as if I'm speaking German.
6. He loves to throw away his dirty diapers. He will grab them, run to the trash can, slam dunk them in and say, "Goojob".
5. Although it is disruptive, I love it when he greets the long haired deacon who passes us the Sacrament on Sunday, "Hi, Jesus."
4. On a similar note, It made me laugh (and Mike get a little choked up) yesterday when Dave and I were talking about the water we were drinking from our little Sacrament cups- delving deeply into the significance of it (The water helps us remember that we should say 'I'm sorry')- when all of a sudden Dave loudly piped up, "I'm sorry, Jesus."
3. Dave loves shoes. He puts on everybody's shoes and clomps around in them. If you come to our house and have some funky shoes or shoes he likes on- be aware that you may have a temporary fixture attached to your leg during your visit. Unless you take your shoes off. Then I hope you don't have athlete's foot.
2. In order to get more Dave kisses, I tricked him into giving me kisses- telling him that I would "jump for joy" if he gave me one. Now all he wants to do is kiss his mama and "Jumpy joy!".
1. Cheese-A-Rama time. My absolute favorite thing Dave does is when he randomly says Love You, Mama ( Udd you, Mama ). It happens most often when I'm not around. Mike will tell me he calls it out when looking for me or after I leave for work. When I do hear it, though- it brings my little heart more joy than it can hold.

Morgan and Dave dyed eggs, but they were about a thousand times more excited about what came after. TUBBY!

Me: Hey, [realtor] the guy said he's not going to pass the insect inspection because the soil is too high in back.
Realtor: (Pause) Do you have a hoe?
Me: Uhhh... yeah... I think maybe I could get one...
I ran over to a neighbor's house that I know and rang the doorbell, but they weren't home. Luckily the termite man let me borrow his pickaxe from the back of his truck. I pickaxed a trench around the back of the house and Mom shoveled it away from the side, exposing the necessary 4 inches of foundation (just a quick fix, of course). All the while Dave was running at our backs saying "Excavator, excavator (his favorite kind of work vehicle). David do it." I just couldn't let Dave hold the pickaxe. That would have fried the circuitry of my internal parental safety modulus. Thankfully the guy was willing to hang around until we finished (which if you ask me, was within record time) and changed the inspection paper. Picture me in flip flops and jeans workin' a pickaxe. My arms are still sore... a little...

Who? Me? Quirky?
Saturday, March 10, 2007
10. I carry two full sacks of food to work on the first day of a stretch. One for the fridge, one for the freezer- because I never know when I will get to eat, how much time I will have to eat, or if I will like what I brought. I like to keep my options open.
I think I have officially been dubbed 'The Bag Lady'
9. When I was in High School, I used to be so afraid that people would hear me breathing hard after walking up a flight of stairs, that I would hold my breath until I passed a groups of kids and could hide behind my locker.
Contrast this with the girl who wasn't the slightest bit embarrassed to ask to take a picture of the school crossing guard holding a mannequin head. Talk about opposite ends of the spectrum.
8. My signature. It's more V-tach than a name, really.
7. I like to sniff Dave's stinky baby morning breath.
6. When I lay down to sleep, night or day, I wish that I could just be done sleeping so that I could do more things. I have to say to myself "Just close your eyes and you'll be awake as soon as you know it. " It's not that I don't need sleep, it's just that I feel it's a waste of time. Kind of like Kate Moss and eating.
5. I pretend to drink milk out of unopened milk jugs.
4. I like to grocery shop. I could walk down every aisle at the grocery store and just look at what they are selling. I like to look for sales anywhere I go and I love the feeling of a full pantry and fridge. I would grocery shop every day if I could (and sometimes I do).
3. I butt into people's conversations and cut them off while they're talking if I'm excited about a subject. It annoys me when I do it, but I can't stop. The words just pop out.
2. Rocking out to music with my child in public does not embarrass me.
1.I have an invisible uni-brow.
